Buying process
A complete step-by-step guide — from finding a car, through bidding and shipping, to delivery at your door.
Account registration
To fully use the USDiscovery platform, you need to create an account on our website. Registration is quick and free — just provide your basic details to access the search engine, cost calculator, bid requests, and your user panel where you can track the entire import process.
Choose your car
Our search engine lets you browse thousands of auctions from Copart and IAAI. Simply enter a make, model, or VIN number to find vehicles that interest you. You can filter results by production year, mileage, damage type, engine status, and many other parameters.
For a safe import, we recommend enabling the "Recommended by USDiscovery" filter in search results. This ensures document consistency and minimizes the risk of problems during import.
We also recommend setting the engine status filter to "Run and Drive" and considering vehicles with vandalism, minor collisions, theft, hail damage, small dents and scratches, repossession, or storm damage.
If you cannot find an auction for the car you want — do not worry! You can watch your search results, and in the "Watched" tab of your user panel you will see new vehicles that appear at auctions matching your criteria.
Deposit
The deposit is required by auction houses and serves as security for your auction participation. It also protects us against situations such as non-payment for a won vehicle.
At any time when your car is not being imported and all your orders have been fulfilled, you can withdraw your deposit in full. The deposit is not a fee — it is a fully refundable security payment.
Vehicle history
Before submitting a bid request, you can check the vehicle sales history and Carfax report directly on the auction page. This way you know whether the car was previously sold, what its mileage was, and what events were recorded.
Submitting a bid request
On the auction page you will find a calculator that shows the approximate costs of delivering the car to your door — including transport, customs clearance, and delivery.
When placing a bid request, you specify the amount we should bid at the auction — this is not the maximum price for the entire delivery service, but only the auction price of the vehicle.
We also display a predicted price based on historical auctions of similar vehicles and the chance level of winning — helping you better assess what amount to offer.
Initial settlement
After winning the auction, you will receive an SMS notification and information in your user panel. In the "Won" tab you will find auction details and next steps.
In the "Status" tab, amounts due will appear — commissions, auction costs, and other fees. They will not be visible immediately — we need up to 24 hours to process them.
Payments should be made as soon as possible to avoid penalties from auction houses.
Transport to US port & photos
Within a few days of winning the auction, a driver will pick up the car from the auction lot and transport it to the shipping port in the USA.
After arrival at the port, additional photos of the vehicle will be taken and posted in your user panel — so you can track the condition of your car in real time.
Sea transport to destination port
The car will be loaded into a container and shipped by sea to the destination port. The most cost-effective destination port is Rotterdam — it offers the best price-to-delivery-time ratio.
Estimated delivery times to Rotterdam
| Route | Delivery time |
|---|---|
| New York → Rotterdam | 15-24 days |
| Savannah → Rotterdam | 23-24 days |
| Houston → Rotterdam | 19-24 days |
| Los Angeles → Rotterdam | 41-57 days |
| Indianapolis → Rotterdam | 25-32 days |
Transport times may change due to weather conditions and port congestion.
Customs clearance form
Before your car arrives at the destination port, a customs clearance form will appear in your panel. You need to fill in the required data, download and sign documents, and send them back according to the instructions.
Car photos from European port
After unloading the car from the container at the destination port, additional photos of the vehicle will be taken. Photos are posted in your panel so you can see the current condition of the car after the sea voyage.
Customs settlement
After unloading, the car must go through customs clearance. You will need to pay: customs duty, VAT, and customs service fees related to documentation preparation and car unloading at the port.
Detailed instructions regarding fees and steps to follow will be available in your user panel under the "Status" tab.
Car collection from port & home delivery
Our driver will pick up your car from the destination port and deliver it to the address you specified in your account settings. Delivery is available throughout Poland.
Document shipment
After delivering the car to your home, you will receive scans of all documents necessary for vehicle registration in Poland — including the title of ownership, customs clearance documents, and other required forms.
Within a few days of delivery, the original documents will be sent to you by courier.
